Recap

What a trip we had. Friday, at lunch at the Blue Bonnett, Larry Noble had his computer streaming live video over to the Stickam site. We were able to get the computer camera working well for the Saturday flight.

Saturday morning off we went, transmitting video throughout most of the launch and subsequent tracking time. Larry Noble, Rob Wright, and myself were shown traveling in Robs vehicle and talking through the flight and recovery. We had a great time. There were some dropouts, especially the audio, but we were able to shut off several items and get it back.

We paused the chase at the rest stop in Arriba. Other trackers were also there and of course the general public watched us and asked questions of the team. We were able to show them the balloon at altitude which surprised many of the travelers.

When burst occurred, we all waited for Rick's prediction and then started driving for that location. We were able to see the parachute descending most of the way down.

We witnessed the actual landing just to the north of the road, and Marty drove into the nearest farmhouse. He talked with the owner who told him who owned the land and he was able to contact them via the phone and get permission for the students to walk out to the landing spot.

There was a local dog, named "Pud" who watched use carefully at first then made friends and visited with us on the road in front of the farm. His owner came out later and chased him home. Great dog.

After the students brought their payloads out, we took pictures of the teams, and then headed for Limon to eat lunch at our favorite cafe there.

What a day. We proved we could stream video of the event, having good coverage by the road for the Sprint system and we were able to video most of the recovery. We plan to do this from now on whenever we get the coverage for the Sprint Card.

Larry and others plan to webcast an EOSS meeting for those who choose not to drive to the meeting place. Hopefully we can get more members to join the organization.
