Meeting Commenced 01/30/91 7:00pm

General discussion of formation of the group.

WB0TUB made a motion to form the group immediatly.

Brief discussion ensued.

• The motion was seconded and unanimously accepted.

A motion was made to elect Jack Crabtree AA0P Chairman of the group.

• The motion was seconded and unanimously accepted.

AA0P called for nominations for Vice Chairman

• Nate Bushnell KD0UE was nominated.
  • His nomination was seconded and unanimously accepted.

AA0P called for nominations for Treasurer

• Merle McCaslin K0YUK was nominated.
  • His nomination was seconded and unanimously accepted.

AA0P called for nominations for Secretary.

• Rick von Glahn N0KKZ was nominated.
  • His nomination was seconded and unanimously accepted.

W6OAL was designated "chief scientist" in charge of payload integration.

AA0P made a motion to have annual dues.

• Dues to be $10.00/yr
• Dues waived for student members of the group.

The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

AA0P asked all members to consider the name of our group and report back any ideas at our next meeting.

W6OAL suggested the name Amateur Radio, Edge of Space Adventures, INC.

General discussion about possible missions included:

• ATV payloads
• Packet
• Crossband repeater
• Linear transponders
• Greased Slides
• Sound studies in reduced atmospheric pressure

Discussion about basic payload configuration included:

• A basic Standard Balloon Bus (SSB)
• Telemetry
• Beacons on 2 and 10 meters
• Control functions of the payload

AA0P called for a group effort to enlist involvement of schools in the area for the purpose of furthering education of scientific and engineering principles, and exposing students to amateur radio.

KB0FVY volunteered to contact several schools.

WA0RLC volunteered to speak with several teachers.

W6OAL suggested we arrange for frequencies for our beacons and telemetry channels.

The next meeting of the group was set for 2/13/91.

The same location as the previous meeting was designated.

Meeting ended @ 9:10 pm.
