Memorial Services for Al Cooley, N0AUS

Memorial Services were held on Monday, June 22, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the South Fellowship Church located in the mall at Panama Drive and South Broadway.

Al was well loved by a wide range of folks. In attendance were several hundred people who knew Al in his various aspects. While there were numerous amateur radio operators present, we were greatly outnumbered by his other friends. We heard funny stories of his teenage years, how he liked to haunt a Pipe and Tobacco shop and play darts with numerous fellow tobacconists several of whom were present, including the owner of said store. Amateur radio folks remembered Al for his Elmering folks into the hobby. We all learned that amateur radio wasn't the only activity where he encouraged younger folks to enter new vistas.

The service was touching while not overly sentimental. Al left behind a large cadre of friends by whom he will be missed.
