Mike Manes, W5VSI (L) demonstrates how NOT to grasp an item on the flight train, in this case the parachute. If you are holding onto something and it is jerked from your hands you have an instinctive response to grip it tighter. That's bad if you actually want the item to be lifted out of your hands, so it is generally better to just cradle and item without holding onto it when getting ready for the balloon to remove it from your hands.
