Topo Plots of Touchdown

webnote: clicking on either the highlighted link or the maps shown will display a full resolution image of the map where you can actually read the labels of the various icons.

Here are three maps to illustrate the placement and positions of the two payload strings based on my observation and APRS+SA TNC log file. The first map (k0ani-topo-EOSS-107_108.jpg) is an overall map of the area with some of the roads, etc.

The second (k0ani-topo-EOSS-107_108a.jpg) is a closer in look at the end of the road (basically an unused dual-track that ran to a gulley) from where the hike in 7/10 of a mile to the payloads.

The third (k0ani-topo-EOSS-107_108b.jpg) is the positions of the two balloon payload strings with the parachutes at the NW end of the lines.

The last position reported by AE0SS-11 was about 260' away from where I estimated the final resting place of the payload. The KC0YA-11 payload landed and the parachute dropped over and into a little gulley out of the wind, so it wasn't dragged like AE0SS-11.

I thought you might like a first hand report after this extraordinary pair of flights and landings.
