Join Edge of Space Sciences (EOSS) as we celebrate 15 years of high altitude educational and scientific balloon missions by launching Flight 100!

EOSS is a non-profit Colorado organization consisting of scientists, engineers, amateur radio operators and educators who promote education and the sciences by using amateur radio and high altitude balloons to conduct missions at the edge of space. Over 21,000 high school and university students have participated in scientific balloon flights as a direct result of EOSS inspiration over the past 15 years.

This event is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of amateur balloon pioneers from around the nation and within EOSS. Hosts for this launch, ceremony and party are the kind folks at Intrado Inc in Longmont, CO. Here are the details:

WHAT:

EOSS Flight 100. This flight is in support of the Colorado Space Grant College program and will fly four student-designed and built payloads. There will be a short recognition ceremony before the 8:00 a.m. launch from the Intradro east parking lot.. Everyone can enjoy the launch and then move indoors to the auditorium. During the flight, you will be hosted in mission control, our multi-media auditorium while EOSS ground station personnel manage the flight. They will present the flight status, interact with the tracking and recovery operations, and provide amazing video on many large media screens. You are welcome to talk with the ground station folks and they will gladly answer questions about EOSS-100 or other flights or activities. Balloon pioneers from around the nation will offer comments and insights. The payload will be returned by helicopter and the wrap up party will begin.
